Through this exhibition you will meet three beautiful artists creating soft painted pieces. Elements of nature are loved by each artist and shown in a variety of ways. Shyrina will be displaying her embodiment of the collage work she has been creating recently, she will become the collage of nature through her performance as well as stills from the performance. Kaitlyn will be playing with the ideas of wearable painting through her jewelry and painting experience, she will be exploring intersections between materials and forms through this piece. Rose will be creating a shadow-based assemblage piece, collecting pieces of nature, and found materials to display a lively shadow painting, photo documentation of this piece will be displayed as well as a video capturing the movement of the piece as it lives. This exhibition will give space for these earthy free pieces to flow and be seen by the audience, these artists are considering the question of what does it mean to contain nature and view such natural and pieces of work through a computer screen. Asking you if it makes you feel more or less connected to nature, allowing space for contemplation and nature-based inspiration.
Shyrina displays stills as well as photo documentation from the performance, Becoming Collage. Through the process of painting my body with honey and collaging my skin with flower pedals and leaves. I embody the naturalness of the body with the naturalness of flowers exploring the themes of the interconnectedness of humans and nature. Normalizing the natural state of the nude body and exploring the art created by mother nature

I wanted to explore the interaction of art and the body and themes of wearable art. Using historical Van Gogh flower paintings for reference I painted seven flower pots on each piece of fabric and created earing from this. I wanted to create a large statement of art hanging from the body and explore how you can wear art, taking art off the wall and integrating it into everyday lives, what that might look like.

Through this work I wanted to explore different mediums painting can be. In this piece I. painted a composition with light and shadow. Turning three dimensional objects into a flat composition displayed on the wall. I then explored how this could change through the addition of movement. Inserting a being into the composition, making subtle movements to see how it changed the shadows as well as the overall composition of the piece as the body moved through the hanging objects. This process left an uncertain outcome for the composition rather than a perfectly placed image. Through this I played with the idea of not knowing how the final piece will look, often in painting we have in idea and a planned-out composition for the painting and execute such thing, I wanted to leave some room for change.
